What do all of the following things have in common?
Heart Disease. Cancer. Mood Swings. Difficulty Sleeping. Weight Gain. Depression. Anxiety.

The answer is chronic stress.

⚠️ THE BAD NEWS: We are all experiencing more stress than ever!
💓 THE GOOD NEWS: I can help you with that!

April is Stress Awareness Month and in light of all that we have gone through in the past year, it seems
particularly important to take time to understand how elevated and prolonged levels of stress are affecting
each of us and most importantly what you can do about it!

While we all experience stress from time to time, when it becomes chronic, we begin to run into a
myriad of problems. When left untreated over a long period of time, stress can cause significant
damage to both our physical and mental well-being.

In and of itself, our body’s stress response is a positive and necessary function. When triggered,
hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline are released helping the body to prepare to either stay
and deal with a threat or to run away to safety, this reflex is known as the fight-or-flight
(or acute stress) response.

This physiological chain of reactions results in an increase in heart rate, blood pressure and breathing
rate. After the threat is gone, it takes between 20 to 60 minutes for the body to return to its pre-arousal
levels. However, if the stressor becomes chronic, the long-term activation of the stress-response and
the overexposure to cortisol, adrenaline and other stress hormones can result in weight gain,
migraines, depression, heart issues, insomnia, and much more.

Here’s where things get interesting! About 70% of our immune system is found in the gut bolstered
by the lymphatic system which functions to protect the body against foreign invaders such as bacteria,
viruses, parasites and fungi.

So it comes as no surprise that when we have gut issues, we can feel off kilter and as if enemies are living
inside of us which is then mirrored in our outside world with feelings that people are out to get or hurt us.
This is owing to the fact that our inner world (gut) feels dissonant and ‘unsafe’. As Within, So Without.

Needless to say, keeping our digestive system functioning optimally is imperative in supporting and protecting
our whole body and minds This starts with reducing and eliminating the stress in our lives.

The Ogawa Method was purposefully designed to reduce stress
and anxiety while eliciting a deep state of relaxation.

One of the most effective techniques (modalities) that I integrate into my offerings is Lymphatic Drainage
Massage specifically targeting the abdomen.

BENEFITS INCLUDE:
- Improves digestion
- Reduces bloating
